I’m Zak Smith, developer and creator. I like to build aesthetically pleasing things that solve problems.

I’ve loved tinkering with programming for as long as I can remember, spinning up Runescape private servers at the age of 9, and building my first website at 12.

Curiosity has always been my driving force. I learned the value of network security at 10 when I spun up a Hamachi server on our home network that also happened to host some business critical data, attempting to allow some friends to play on my private server, and got a lesson from my father on best practices.

During COVID, I decided that I wanted to make a career out of what I thought was just a hobby. I enrolled at WGU in the BS Software Engineering program, and have enjoyed every moment since. I have a passion for learning, and I am always looking for new ways to improve my skills, build new things, and become a better engineer.

Since starting my journey into professional software development, I’ve learned many new languages, frameworks, best practices, and more. To get a better idea of the stacks I work with and languages I use, head to Tech.
